The neon sign outside Goldberg's Liquors in Brooklyn Park has
been glowing since the 1940s, proudly reminding customers and
passersby that the store has been in the business of selling alcohol
"Since Prohibition."
The store has sold liquor and beer for 75 consecutive years,
since national Prohibition ended in 1933. Allen Aronstein, the
current owner, said older customers reminisce about the early days
of Goldberg's, when there were cows in the parking lot.
Goldberg's was in business even before Prohibition, having been
opened as a country store in the early 1900s by Julius and Jennie
Goldberg. The store sold alcohol before Prohibition. During the
