Portland engineer seeks a better BIM

Though Building Information Management is on its way to changing
the way people build, Ed Dean of Nishkian Dean Consulting Engineers
says it still has a long way to go.
"The I in BIM is for information," he said. "You can currently
exchange information between BIM software, but there are glitches.
We want to change the inoperability that comes with sharing
information between pieces of design software."
That's why Dean is working with the Applied Technology Council to
create a neutral file format that can transfer structural
engineering information from one form of BIM software to another in
