Two local state legislators today introduced bills that would
allow farmers to sell more types of products made from raw milk,
despite the health risks.
Farmers now are only allowed to sell raw milk and aged cheese
made from raw milk.
Legislation by state Sen. Mike Brubaker, a Republican from
Warwick Township, and state Rep. Bryan Cutler, a Republican from
Peach Bottom, would allow the sale of any dairy product made from
raw milk, including butter, soft cheese, ice cream, yogurt and other
products.
Some health professionals say raw milk - not pasteurized or
homogenized - is unsafe and should be prohibited to prevent the
spread of food-borne illnesses, such as salmonella, E. coli and
other ...
