Article: Firefighters looking out for illegal fireworks

With the Fourth of July rapidly approaching, firefighters are gearing up for aggressive patrols through neighborhoods in search of people illegally lighting fireworks.

Like last year, fire engines will trundle up and down neighborhood streets from the San Bernardino Valley to the High Desert, confiscating fireworks and issuing citations if the situation calls for it.

"The plan is pretty much the same as last year. We'll be driving through the neighborhoods, and when we see fireworks going up we'll be after them," said Mike Ward, lead investigator for the San Bernardino County Fire Department.
