Derriford bosses have pledged to improve communications with patients following a rise in the number of complaints about hospital administration.

Paul Roberts, chief executive of Plymouth NHS Hospitals Trust, said patients administration was a common theme in complaints, and the trust needed to address the issue.

Cancelled clinics, lack of letters to reschedule appointments, and delays in follow-up appointments were identified as particular grouses from patients.

The trust received 253 formal complaints between January and March, compared to 234 the previous quarter.
