Article: School lunch prices to rise 25-50 cents

School lunch prices will increase in September to help offset rising costs and balance food service accounts.

The school committee voted 3-1 Tuesday to increase lunch prices from $2 to $2.50 at Marshfield High and Furnace Brook Middle schools.

Elementary school lunches will increase from $1.75 to $2.25 and adult lunch prices will increase from $3 to $3.25. Items like milk and ice cream will also increase.

"We're talking, unfortunately, an increase of 50 cents per student," said Superintendent Middleton McGoodwin,

"I don't see any way around this particular increase," said committee member Nancy Currie.
