Article: These guys still wear ties: ; Some area businessmen and lawyers say they still cling to dressy tradition

Bob Gray is conservative when it comes to dressing for work.

As vice president of business development at Thomas Memorial Hospital, he wears a suit and tie every day.

"I have a closet full of ties," he said. "I guess I've got 150 or more. I hate to admit it, but I still have ties from the 1970s."

Gray doesn't believe the recent statistics that say only 6 percent of American men now wear ties to work.

"I read the article in the paper and I couldn't believe that number," he said. "It seems too low."

The story referred to a recent Gallup Poll that showed the number of men who wore ties every day to work had dropped to a record low of 6 percent, down from 10 percent in 2002.
