EIGHT MONTHS after her husband had a lung transplant, filmmaker
Rachel Jean forced him to look at his old lungs, pickled, on a
hospital table.
Pauli O'Halloran didn't want to. But Jean said it would make good
footage for her documentary.
The scene in the film, which screens Thursday night on TV3, shows
the couple at Auckland City Hospital tenderly squeezing O'Halloran's
lungs.
Says Jean: "I stopped thinking about it as 'that's my darling
husband out there'. In fact, we started talking about Pauli as the
talent and me as the annoying wife.
"You wear two hats - the doco hat says when do you ever get
access to your talent 100% of the time?" Jean, 41, who has won
awards for her films ...
