Phoenix -- The Milwaukee Brewers, who had a pretty good head of steam going a week ago, ended June with a whimper.

The fourth three-city trip of the first half is proving a bit too much for the Brewers, who bowed for fourth time in five games, 6-3, to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night at Chase Field.

A 2-0 start to the trip has degenerated into a 3-4 mark, with three games to play against the Diamondbacks.

It was Arizona that supposedly stumbled into the series, with 16 losses in 25 games in June. That downward spiral had dropped the Diamondbacks to .500 (41-41), still good enough to lead the putrid NL West.
