Between 5.3 and 6.5 million people are disabled from brain injuries at any given time. There are 2 million people brain injured each year, so attrition is obviously high.

Traumatic brain injury is the leading cause of death of children and elderly in America. Brain injuries are the fourth leading cause of death of people 44 and under.

A quarter of a million people are hospitalized each year, and 50,000 of those die. The cost of brain injury is $48 billion annually.
