While Kameisha (Bennett) Martin's heart certainly ached, her left
knee was really giving her problems.
"It was a very long night, it's really throbbing," said Martin, a
1999 Meadowdale High School graduate. "My husband told me the
adrenaline would carry over, but that's not happening."
The swollen and painful left knee is the physical reminder of a
long and unusual weekend for Martin at the U.S. Olympic Track and
Field Trials in Eugene, Ore. The former University of Tennessee star
was involved in a four-person spill during the women's 800-meter
semifinal Saturday, June 28, before finishing third in Monday's
final.
Usually, the top three placers make the Olympic team, but Martin
