Storms may douse fireworks ; Cold front expected to bring thunderstorms to the area and threaten holiday events.

The weather today, July 2, will be warm and clear, but it's not going to stay that way for holiday events, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

"We have high pressure moving into the area," said meteorologist Charlie Woodrum.

"It's going to bring beautiful conditions with temperatures in the 80s."

Thunderstorms are expected back in the area on Thursday and into the weekend.
