That 'boom!' could be Stewart Street bridge blowing up

DAYTON -- If you hear what sounds like fireworks today or Thursday of this Fourth of July week, it might be from the explosives being used to bring down the Stewart Street bridge, which is being replaced.

The day and time for detonation was not confirmed Tuesday night, July 1, according to the office of Steve Finke, assistant director of the city's department of public works.

But project general contractor Ahern & Associates Inc., expects that residents and employees in the area may hear the blast possibly today or Thursday, Finke's office said.
