The athletes came from all over the country for last month's
North American Bocci Ball Championship.
Some traveled from as far as Utah, Michigan, Minnesota and
Florida.
Once in New Mexico, the competitors converged on the playing
fields of ... Bob and MJ Skarsgard's backyard in Albuquerque's
Northeast Heights.
Despite the lofty name, the NABBC isn't sanctioned by any
international sports organization. It's not played under the
discerning eyes of bocce ball judges in matching polo shirts.
Nobody's equipment is weighed before the action begins. In fact, Bob
Skarsgard jokes, he uses "bocci" in the tournament title instead of
the more common spelling of "bocce" so he can avoid violating any ...
