A n A lbuquerque mother was in jail Wednesday evening after
police say she dodged social workers who were trying to take her two
small children, "kidnapped" the youngsters from a South Valley home,
then fled from officers at a high rate of speed before finally being
arrested in the Northeast Heights. When officers did get 31-year-
old Stephanie Lynn Brito blocked in and stopped -- shortly before
11:30 p.m. Tuesday -- they had to smash in her car windows with
collapsible batons to remove her and her two children from the
vehicle, according to a criminal complaint filed in Metropolitan
Court.
Both children "were found screaming, crying and visibly upset."
