Fireworks Safety Urged

The city of Rio Rancho requires fireworks to display no higher than 10 feet, remain within a 6-foot radius and be no louder than a cap gun, according to a Rio Rancho Fire Rescue news release.

When purchasing fireworks, be sure the vendor is licensed and inspected, the release says.

Purchasing fireworks from vendors does not always mean that they are legal for use within the city limits, it says. Illegal fireworks will be confiscated, and violators may be fined.
