Sheriff's office employees accept wage freeze

WOOSTER -- A change in the Wayne County Sheriff's Office contract with its union and a contract with a new medical service provider are expected to help the office stay within its annual appropriations of more than $5.8 million, a figure designated for all Sheriff-related expenses.

On Wednesday, Sheriff Thomas Maurer announced during a regular meeting of the Wayne County commissioners that the office's union, the Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association, has proposed an agreement to the contract extension which includes a wage freeze that will keep the pay scale at the same level.
