Fireworks-related incidents in the area are the last things
Riverside County fire authorities need with 300 of their
firefighters battling wildfires in Northern California.
"We can't emphasize this any more," said Fire Chief John Hawkins
of Cal Fire.
"We don't need any fires in Southern California. We don't need to
have anyone injured."
At their annual pre-Fourth of July event Wednesday, officials
demonstrated just how dangerous illegal fireworks can be - by
blowing the fingers off a smiling plastic mannequin in a pink summer
outfit with an M-80 firecracker.
Nationwide, they said, 10,000 people ended up in emergency ...
