Students saddle up for 2,000-mile bike ride

Three students are marking the end of their A-levels by doing a 2,000-mile charity bike ride.

Jake Tempo, Alex Wildy and Chazz Fisher have recently finished their exams at Ralph Allen School and will be pedalling for six weeks from St Malo in Brittany to Gibraltar.

The trio, who set off at the weekend, hope to raise pounds6,000 for Mercy Ships, a charity which sends floating hospitals to provide free operations for people in the poorest parts of the world.

They have chosen the cause because 17-year-old Jake, from Bathampton, plans to work on one of the ships during his gap year, before he goes on to study medicine at university.
