New chapter for library services

A new self-service system is to be introduced in Bath's libraries later this year.

People visiting the city's libraries will no longer need the assistance of staff to check out their books, thanks to new technology.

Equipment, which is being installed in all public libraries in the Bath area this year, will let customers borrow, renew and return their own items from October.

Bath and North East Somerset Council hopes the technology will improve the range of services from library staff.
