500 arrested in Yorkshire-based drive against people traffickers

A NATIONAL crackdown on people traffickers organised from
Yorkshire has resulted in more than 500 suspected offenders being
arrested and 167 victims rescued.
Operation Pentameter Two was launched by the Sheffield-based
Human Trafficking Centre (HTC) and lasted six months, taking in the
entire country.
Investigations have confirmed that many of those who become the
subject of trafficking and forced into the sex trade are now forced
to work from domestic addresses, rather than the massage parlours
that were the traditional "front" for brothels.
Those rescued included 13 girls aged between 14 and 17 who had
been forced into sexual exploitation.
