NEW YORK (HedgeWorld.com) - Many of the bold predictions made for
the New Year by Byron Wien, the chief investment strategist at
Westport, Conn.-based hedge fund Pequot Capital Management, turned
out to be true.
Since 1986, Mr. Wien, a former Morgan Stanley strategist, has
been publishing his annual list of "Ten Surprises," a collection of
matter-of-fact predictions of market, economic, and political
occurrences in the New Year. A veteran banker and now a hedge fund
strategist at Pequot, a firm run by Arthur Samberg, Mr. Wien was the
recipient last month of the Lifetime Achievement Award of the New
York Society of Security Analysts.
