Study says police do a lot with a little

REDLANDS - A recent police study found that the Redlands Police Department does a lot with what it has.

The study, conducted by Palos Verdes-based consultant Joseph Brann, looked at the department's staffing and productivity and offered recommendations on how the department could improve.

The study said the management structure that has served the department is somewhat unusual for a department of its size. That a deputy chief and a captain make up most of the department's executive staff is unusual, the study said.

"The community has grown and the (Police Department) staffing levels have not quite kept pace," Brann said.
