What's new at the A.K. Smiley Public Library

The Lincoln Memorial Shrine, the only museum in the west dedicated to Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War, recently received two new 8-foot-tall glass and wood display cases.

Specially crafted to match the shrine's six existing tall cases, the new arrivals also feature the same inlaid caster wheels on the bottom that allow the cases to be easily moved. The two new cases now house displays about the role of sea power in the Civil War, including five intricate models of Union and Confederate warships.

"Our model collection was always popular with our young visitors," Lincoln Shrine curator Don McCue said.
