This is the second in a series of columns about Daily Facts
freelancer Bobbe Monk's train trip to the Midwest and Texas.
June 14
Chicago, that "toddlin' town," was very welcoming. The railway
station is huge, but there are redcaps with motorized luggage
carriers that can also transport handicapped or, in my case, just
tired people, into the main part of the station.
I caught a cab, with a redcap's help, and went to the 29th floor
of the Fairmont Hotel. What a view!
After settling in, I went downstairs to their Aria Restaurant and
Bar for a Middle Eastern dinner. Pricey by local standards, but
excellent.
The problem - no fridge or microwave in my room, so I couldn't
take the leftovers ...
