A mammoth new library for Tualatin

Standing 8 feet tall and 12 feet long in life, the partial skeleton of a mastodon discovered in Tualatin in the 1940s isn't the only big thing happening at the Tualatin Public Library.

P&C Construction Co. is nearly complete with a $9.4 million renovation and expansion of the library, increasing its original square footage threefold to 27,658. P&C tore down most of the original structure before building up the remodeled library, which includes 6,478 square feet for Tualatin's city building and engineering departments.

And the library's children's room will become home to Tualatin's oldest resident.
