BROOKLIN - No matter what coast you find yourself on, surfing is
all about the sun, the sand, the waves - and the perfect board.
For a class of nine surfboard-building beginners, crafting that
perfect board and styling it into their very own was the focus
recently of the first surfboard-making workshop at The WoodenBoat
School.
"I love the idea of classes," instructor Mike LaVecchia said.
"When you build something yourself and it's something you're going
to use and enjoy ... you take so much more pride in it."
This isn't the first board-making class that LaVecchia and his
friend and business partner, Brad Anderson, have taught, but
typically they hold classes at their board shop, Grain ...
