Art students try 'Flying Without Feathers'

Valley Preparatory School art students use their imagination in creating a variety of artworks

The recent art exhibition at Valley Preparatory School in Redlands, "Flying Without Feathers," was inspired by artist and illustrator Faith Ringgold.

The focus this year in art specialist Joanne K. Curry's classes was "Art is imagination, art is magic." Curry said that theme generated excitement in her art classes and inspired new ideas for students' art.

By using imagination and a myriad of mediums and applications, students found they could "fly" to faraway places at any time with anyone they chose. Some traveled to the past, some to the future and some to places unknown. They included ...
