Sheep producers from Cornwall increasingly realise the value of
maintaining the existing marketing structure for wool through the
British Wool Marketing Board, according to its new regional
committee member.
About 70 per cent of the Cornish wool clip is delivered by the
producer and handled by the BWMB's depot at Liskeard, with the rest
handled at the board's South Molton depot.
Stuart Cornelius, the new member, said: "The BWMB's role to act
as selling agent for British sheep farmers, and to achieve the best
possible price for their wool, provides an established and stable
marketing structure.
