I write further to former UKIP parliamentary candidate Trevor
Colman's letter "Hypocrisy indeed", June 26, and his unfounded
personal accusations.
The Lib-Dems and I have been consistent in our approach to saving
our Post Office network. We live in the real world, realising that
communication methods are changing and that taxpayers should not
indefinitely underwrite industries with blank cheques, as UKIP
continuously suggests taxpayers should.
Nor do we believe the slash and burn methods of reducing post
office numbers that both Tory and Labour Governments have employed
serve the public or the network well.
The Post Office and Royal Mail will have to evolve, so we have
suggested radical ...
