1st LD Writethru: African countries want G8 aid commitment "fully implemented"

TOYAKO, Japan, July 7 (Xinhua) -- African countries told the Group of Eight (G8) industrialized nations that they should "fully" implement the many aid promises made to Africa, a Japanese official said Monday.

Leaders from seven African countries and the G8 nations held an outreach working session on the first day of the G8 summit which opened here Monday in Japan's resort Toyako.

Kazuo Kodama, press secretary of the Japanese Foreign Ministry, told reporters that during the meeting, the African countries and G8 nation leaders discussed a batch of issues, including aid to Africa, surging oil and food prices, ...
