UnitedHealthcare is the first Ohio health plan to be receive all
three "Quality Plus" distinctions from the National Committee for
Quality Assurance (NCQA), which accredits and rates insurers. It
also joins only Cigna HealthCare with distinction in physician and
hospital quality.
The NCQA also cites Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Medical
Mutual of Ohio and Aetna in the two other categories -- member
connections and care management and health improvement.
Online NCQA resources for employers include a qualitydividend
calculator for computing "increased productivity and revenues when
selecting accredited plans," using data on health plans and employee
demographics.
