Jamey Carroll has experienced more than his share of triumph and
tragedy in the last few years - from the heights of playing in the
World Series to the sudden death of his beloved mother.
Through the tribulations, the Cleveland Indians' second baseman
has been able to maintain his sense of humor. So has his father.
Larry Carroll worked the midnight shift at the Alcoa aluminum
plant in Newburgh so he could coach his sons' baseball teams in the
evening. During his 18-year tenure, he coached older brother Jason
and younger brother Wes, but not Jamey, because of the overlap in
ages.
