Karen Flowers remembers how a 1970s boy band ruled her taste in
fashion - and bedroom decoration.
When Karen Flowers was a teenager in the 1970s, she spent hours
sewing tartan on to her baggy trousers and jackets.
"I was a huge Bay City Rollers fan," said Karen. "I used to drive
my Mum mad. I would sew tartan on to all my clothes."
The photograph of the Rollers, Bygones, July 2, took Karen, of
Alvaston, back more than 30 years to the days when Les McKeown led
his fellow Scots into the charts 10 times between 1971 and 76.
"Sadly, I don't have any photographs left of myself in my uniform
as a Roller, but I remember those years so well," said Karen, nee
Church, who was brought up in Chaddesden.
