Article: Free entry to Gloucester cathedral

Visitors will get a bargain when they visit Gloucester Cathedral because, unlike other cathedrals, it has no intention of charging for entry.

This comes as the Cathedral presents its five-year vision and strategy consultation document, where it prioritised making the Cathedral more accessible.

The Dean, the Very Rev Nicholas Bury said: "There are all sorts of reasons why it is unfair to charge. You can't discriminate against people with less money.

"Lots of people come in for five or 10 minutes to light a candle and say a prayer and they wouldn't want to be asked to pay every time."
