David Davis today cast his vote in what promises to be the most
colourful by-election in history.
The former shadow home secretary was at Howden's Shire Hall, in
his Howden constituency, to vote in what he has described as a fight
for civil liberties.
There was early activity at polling stations as voters began to
give their verdict on Mr Davis's gamble to resign as an MP and
initiate the by-election.
A steady stream of voters turned out to cast their votes since
polling stations opened at 7am.
But it remains to be seen how many of the 70,100 electors will
vote, as neither the Lib Dems nor the Labour Party are fielding a
candidate.
