Billy Bob leads same group in 2 bands

Two names, basically one band. The Boxmasters and the Billy Bob Thornton Band. They're on the same bill Wednesday, July 16, in Santa Fe and Thursday, July 17, in Taos.

How does that work? Thornton explained the deal:

"We open as The Boxmasters. We do that very stylish hillbilly kind of thing with the mod suits," he said in a phone interview from Los Angeles. "Then we come out with my solo show, which is the big show and it's essentially the same band. So we open for ourselves."

With The Boxmasters, Thornton is the drummer and sings lead, J.D. Andrew is on bass and guitars and sings harmony and Michael Wayne Butler plays electric guitars, dobro and lap steel.
