IS SIR Martin Sorrell, boss of WPP, getting soft in the head? For
a moment, City Spy was getting worried after reading Sorrell's
latest pronouncements on the state of the advertising market.
"All our instincts as clients, agencies and media owners are to
encourage people to consume more super-consumption," he told a
recent conference, according to Campaign magazine. People have
become used, he said, to "the aspiration that you should consume
more; the aspiration that you should have a bigger car; the
aspiration that you should have a number of holidays, bigger houses
and multiple houses".
