Private pilots are no different from motorists these days: they're looking to move down to typically smaller, more fuel- efficient airplanes the way some car and truck owners are seeking smaller vehicles to economize.

The prime purpose of Skylane Airport - a modest public facility at 2029 Allen Lane on Evansville's Northwest Side - is not to sell pre-owned planes, but to provide pilots of small aircraft with a landing strip and hangars.

Some of the nearly 50 pilots who regularly fly in and out of Skylane's airstrip, however, have planes for sale there most of the time.
