$468,000 federal award counters $12M Missouri state verdict against quarry

A federal jury awarded two companies more than $468,000 this week, just a few months after a state jury entered a $12 million verdict against the companies for claims arising from the same issue.

A Kansas City federal jury decided Wednesday that the small town of Greenwood, in Jackson County, should pay $468,209 to Martin Marietta Materials and Hunt Martin Materials. The companies used a city street in Greenwood to transport crushed rock in trucks.
