Inflow of remittance is key source of Bangladesh's foreign
exchange earning
DHAKA, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Remittance from around 5.6 million
expatriate Bangladeshis, living and working in more than 100 foreign
nations, is the net highest foreign exchange earner for the country,
said a top government official here on Thursday.
"Remittance is the net highest foreign exchange earner, not the
ready-made garment (RMG)," central bank governor Salehuddin Ahmed
said, adding that the RMG sector is certainly earning huge foreign
exchange, but the RMG owners have to pay a certain portion of such
earnings on imports.
