Airbus was reeling from a massive blow yesterday after it emerged
the planemaker was likely lose a pounds20 billion aircraft
contract with the US government which would have safeguarded jobs at
its Filton factory for the next three decades.
And there are fears Airbus's parent company EADS will be forced
into making job cuts if it loses out to its rival Boeing in the
battle for the contract.
The decision to award the contract for the US Air Force's
refuelling fleet to a European company caused a storm of protest in
the States and led to questions being raised in Congress.
