Article: Parks: Boycott the New Yorker

Los Angeles Councilman Bernard Parks broke through a lull in the race for the county Board of Supervisors on Monday by calling for a boycott of New Yorker magazine, which depicts Barack and Michelle Obama as militants on this week's cover.

Parks denounced the cover on CNN and plans to introduce a resolution at the Los Angeles City Council meeting today calling on booksellers and newsstands to remove the magazine from their shelves.

"It seems to be racist. It seems to be sexist. It seems to be anti-religion and anti-patriotic," Parks said.

"This is a completely inappropriate way to portray somebody that could be the future president of the United States."
