New York -- Minnesota's Justin Morneau, who won the All-Star Home
Run Derby in what had to rank as the biggest upset in the history of
the competition, put his achievement in proper perspective
afterward.
"I think everyone will remember Josh Hamilton's 28 home runs in
the first round more than me winning the thing," Morneau admitted.
Indeed.
After Hamilton swung himself out with a prodigious display in the
opening round, Morneau emerged as the victor by a margin of five
home runs to three in the finals Monday night at Yankee Stadium.
Entering that final round, you would have had a hard time finding
anyone in the crowd of 53,716 willing to bet a nickel on Morneau.
