A man who seriously injured a young boy in a hit-and-run asked a
garage to make it seem like his car had not been in an accident, a
court heard yesterday.
Appearing at Truro Crown Court, Peter Mitchell, 56, of Merryfield
Close, Truro, pleaded guilty to failing to report an accident and
failing to stop after an accident.
He denies a third charge of attempting to pervert the course of
justice.
The court heard Mitchell had pleaded not guilty to a charge of
tampering with evidence after he allegedly instructed garage staff
to repair his Vauxhall Vectra following the serious collision on
July 28, 2007, on an unclassified road in Fiddlers Green, St Newlyn
East, Newquay.
