Eurostar move leads to customer rise

The number of people using the Eurostar since it moved to St Pancras has increased - with some of the biggest growth coming from Derby.

Eurostar has said that, apart from Dartford, for the first six months of this year, the number of people using its high-speed rail services to mainland Europe has increased the most in Derby.

According to figures released this morning, the number of Derby people using Eurostar to Paris and Brussels has gone up by 190%.

In Nottingham, it went up 131%, Sheffield 128% and Leicester 113%.

Eurostar has said it will not be releasing the exact breakdown of the number of passengers from each city.
