A fully loaded fuel tanker was left stranded in the middle of the
A38 after a suspected tyre blow-out caused it to collide with the
central reservation.
Traffic was severely disrupted for five hours yesterday as
emergency services dealt with the incident on the westbound
carriageway near the Ivybridge slip road.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 10.15am after
reports the tanker, with 10,000 litres of diesel on board, had
collided with the crash barrier. No-one was injured in the incident.
"We are investigating the possibility that the driver lost
control after a tyre deflated," said a spokesman for Devon and
Cornwall police.
