In the recent Channel 4 series, Gordon Ramsey's F-word, Ms Janet
Street-Porter has taken on the mammoth task of hand-rearing four
young veal calves from suckling stage to slaughter.
Through all of her hilarious barnyard sagas she is highlighting a
very serious message, that dairy farmers, consumers and retailers
need to take responsibility for the thousands of dairy calves in the
UK that are rejected every year.
Currently male calves are left either to be killed at birth or
exported on long journeys.
Everywhere these days it is being debated what foods are ethical
to eat and what aren't.
