Derby aero-engine maker Rolls-Royce has secured pounds4.65bn of
orders at the Farnborough Air Show this week.
The engine which attracted the bulk of the orders at the five-
day show was the Trent XWB, which is being developed at the firm's
civil aerospace division in Derby.
Almost pounds3.5bn of orders were placed for the Trent XWB, which
is the only engine available for the Airbus A350 XWB.
Sizeable orders for the engine were placed by South Korean
airline Asiana (pounds1.2bn) and Etihad (pounds2.25bn).
The Asiana contract was the first order Rolls-Royce had received
from a Korean airline.
Rolls-Royce chief executive Sir John Rose said he was encouraged
