A fifth wicket partnership of 154 between Keith Parsons and
skipper Tom Sharp ensured Cornwall had a satisfactory opening day in
their clash with Wales Minor Counties, as championship cricket
returned to Falmouth yesterday.
The stand, only 25 short of the fifth wicket county record set by
Sharp and Ryan Driver at Exmouth four years ago, was the highlight
as Cornwall made 361 with four of their 90 overs unused.
Chris Hunkin hit a valuable 67 not out putting on 51 for the last
wicket with Neil Ivamy to put the icing on a Cornish innings that at
one stage has slipped to 110 for four. Rob Harrison struck twice as
Wales ended the day on 58 for two after 25 overs.
